WILMINGTON, NC --- The Sea Devil Women's Soccer program will play for in the 2016 District L Championship versus Harford Community College on Sunday morning; the winner advances to the 2016 NJCAA Women's Soccer National Tournament in Melbourne, FL.

"We are enjoying the journey and still hungry. The team continues to create a positive experience," said Sea Devil Women's Soccer head coach Ryan Deppa in his Friday pre-game presser.

The Sea Devil Women's Soccer team is coming off a (2-1) win over Spartanburg Methodist College last weekend in the 2016 NJCAA Division I Region 10 Conference Tournament Championship game. Cape Fear trailed (0-1) early in the game but led by strong defensive play and leadership from upperclassmen, the Sea Devils were able find offensive scoring chances. Those defensive plays and offensive scoring chances finally broke through in the 30th minute when Anna Massengill's shot found the back of the net following a Sierra Raynor's cross into the box. The Sea Devils would score just prior to halftime in the 44th minute when sophomore Jenna Pecorini drew a penalty and would connect on her penalty shot, to give Cape Fear a (2-1) halftime lead.

The Sea Devils would hold the Pioneers scoreless in the game's final 45 minutes to clinch the 2016 NJCAA Region 10 Conference Tournament Championship; this earned Cape Fear's first NJCAA Region 10 Tournament Championship since 2013.

"The entire team continues to work together in training to help us prepare for the next game," Deppa added.

As for the Sea Devils opponent, the Fighting Owls of Harford Community College, they were the winners of the 2016 NJCAA Region 20 Conference Tournament Championship in a (2-0) victory over CCBC Essex last weekend.

The Sea Devil Women's Soccer team enters Sunday's 2016 NJCAA Region 10 Conference Championship game with a (16-1) overall record, and a (11-1) in conference play record, as well as the winners of six straight matches.

The Fighting Owls are led by twelfth year Head Coach Jason Muffoletto, who has led his women's soccer squad to a (13-2) overall record, and a (7-1) in Region 20 conference play.

"They are a quality team with a seasoned coach, they are much improved from 2015," Deppa added when asked about the Fighting Owls Women's Soccer program.
