Cape Fear Blanks Hagerstown

Wilmington, NC - Muhammed Jahateh tallied twice and Nate Pace found the back of the net as Cape Fear Community College blanked Hagerstown CC 3-0 at the CFCC North Campus late Saturday afternoon.

"We put on a good performance by the entire team today," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We're off to a good start with three wins, but quickly need to refocus for Sunday's game against the College of Southern Maryland."

Southern Maryland was in town for the weekend and picked up a 4-2 win over Spartanburg Methodist early Saturday.

Jahateh notched his first score in the 18th minute off an assist from Myles Strickland, while Pace put the Sea Devils in front two-nil just after the halftime break. Jahateh put the game away in the 67th minute on a touch from Mamadou Kelleh. Dakota Moore made one save in the shutout.

Cape Fear (3-0) entertains College of Southern Maryland at the North campus soccer field at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Hagerstown takes on Spartanburg at 11 a.m.
