Soccer Hosts College Game Experience

Wilmington, NC - The Sea Devils Men's Soccer Team hosted a "College" game experience for the SHS Cardinals, a local homeschooled organization this past Wednesday.  The team was able to train on the game field, engage in a question and answer session with Head Coach Chris Libert, and interact with the Sea Devils prior to their 3-0 win over Wake Tech.  Several members of the Cardinals, also served as ball staff for the match.  "It was a great experience for our team, and really gave them something to look forward to.  "The Cardinals had a great time watching the Sea Devils get a win while seeing quality college level soccer," stated Cardinal's Head Coach Scott Jones.

In the spring of 2012, local homeschool families joined together to form athletic teams to compete with local middle school teams in the area.  In the fall of 2013, the Southeastern Homeschool Sports organized and joined the NCHEAC (North Carolina Homeschool Education Athletic Conference).  The Cardinals Varsity soccer team plays in the eastern division and will play in the state homeschool tournament in late October 2014.  In addition to the varsity homeschool conference teams, the Cardinals also play local private schools.  SHS fields varsity and middle school boys' soccer teams in the fall season.  The Cardinals girls' soccer teams play in the spring season.  The Southeastern Homeschool Sports association also includes basketball, baseball, cross country, cheer, soccer, tennis, and volleyball for the local homeschool community.
