Sea Devils Down USC Lancaster

Lancaster, SC - Cape Fear Community College bounced back in the team's second trip to the Palmetto State over the last four days as the Sea Devils pulled out a 4-3 win over USC-Lancaster in overtime on Tuesday afternoon.

With the score knotted at three after the Lancers equalized the match twice during regulation, former Laney High School standout Brian Pinder notched the game-winner in extra time off an assist from Nate Torbett in the 98th minute.

"I'm happy for the boys that we were able to pick up a much needed win today," said Cape Fear Coach Chris Libert. "It's always tough to play on the road and in inclement conditions. I'm glad we responded."

Torbett opened the scoring in the sixth minute with help from Mamadou Kelleh and Pinder tallied 60 seconds later on a penalty kick to give Cape Fear an early two goal lead.

The home team battled its way back towards the midway point and tied the game just after the break in the 47th minute.

CFCC went up again in the 69th minute when Kelleh scored off a CJ Morales assist, but the Lancers forced over-time with its second equalizer late in the regulation.

Dakota Moore had five saves in net for the Sea Devils, while Pinder added to his total for the year with four goals on the season.

Cape Fear moved to 6-3 overall and leveled their record to 3-3 in conference heading into a Region X match against Spartanburg Methodist on Friday. Sept. 26.
